Choosing a monitor mount for industry and logistics
A monitor mount at an industrial workstation has to suit the screen, the mounting location and the workflow. At a packing station, the focus is on the combination of display, keyboard and scanner. At a machine, the range of movement may be the deciding factor. This guide shows what information you need to make your choice and which SIC monitor mounts and components in our shop can serve as a starting point.
1. Determine the VESA pattern and device weight first
Start with the exact model designation of the monitor. The data sheet should state the weight without the desk stand, the screw thread and the hole pattern. VESA 75 × 75 mm and 100 × 100 mm are different hole spacings. The mount on offer and the screen must be compatible with each other; the screen diagonal alone does not tell you this.
Also take into account any adapter plate that may be needed and any other parts that the mount will carry as well. Check the permissible load of the entire connection, all the way to the load-bearing surface. A monitor mount with sufficient load capacity is no substitute for checking how it is fixed to the desk, rail or machine.
Our VESA guide to monitor mounts explains how to read and measure the hole pattern correctly. Screw length, thread and permissible screw-in depth depend on the specific device and the installation instructions.
2. Where will the monitor be mounted?
On a work surface
For an existing work surface, a surface-mounted monitor mount may be an option. Check the material, fixing points, space beneath the surface and the position of the screen relative to the working area in advance. The SIC M-26050 monitor holder is designed for attachment to a work surface and supports VESA 75 and 100.
On a carrier rail
A rail is one possible starting point if several components are to be arranged on a common structure. The M-20094_TS_9010 monitor holder is designed for mounting on a compatible SIC carrier rail. Make sure you clarify the specific rail type and the mounting parts required.
SIC carrier rails are not automatically interchangeable with just any aluminium profile, machine groove or medical standard rail. Nor does a similar appearance or a shared nominal size prove mechanical compatibility. To connect to an existing third-party system, we need its manufacturer, profile designation and dimensions.
On a mobile workstation
If the screen needs to change location as part of the work process, it is worth planning the entire cart. The mount, computer, keyboard, cables and, where applicable, the power supply then belong together. Our SIC carts offer a range of different equipment options for this.
3. Two monitor mounts compared side by side
| Feature | M-26050 | M-20094_TS_9010 |
|---|---|---|
| Mounting | Work surface | Compatible SIC carrier rail |
| VESA hole pattern | 75 × 75 and 100 × 100 mm | 75 × 75 and 100 × 100 mm |
| Tilt | ±15° | ±15° |
| Rotation | ±90° | Not specified as a rotation function in the product description |

A load capacity of up to 25 kg is specified for the M-20094_TS_9010 rail-mounted holder. The load-bearing capacity of a complete assembly also depends on the rail, the connection and the mounting surface. Have the planned combination of devices checked, including the mounting parts required.
4. Plan operation and range of movement at the workstation
Note down the position from which the display will be read and operated. A screen used purely to show status information has different positioning requirements from a touchscreen that is used regularly. Consider who will use the workstation and whether they will switch between sitting and standing.
Tilting, rotating and adjusting the height are different functions. A tiltable mount is no substitute for a swivel arm; a position that can be set during installation does not automatically mean height adjustment suitable for frequent use. So describe the movement you need in day-to-day work: swivelling the screen out of the way, turning it towards a colleague or raising and lowering it together with the input surface.
When mounting on a machine, check the entire range of movement. Doors, covers, control panels and maintenance access points should remain accessible. Cables need enough slack to allow for movement without straying into the working area or traffic routes. Vibration, shock loads, dust, moisture or special cleaning procedures are additional selection criteria and must be clarified for the specific solution.
5. Plan for the keyboard, scanner and printer too
A monitor on its own does not make a complete workstation. Decide where the keyboard and mouse will go and how the scanner and printer will remain within reach. The SIC range includes, for example, a shelf for a printer or scanner and a shelf with pull-out keyboard tray. The right mounting method and the load are checked for each component.
At a packing station, a compact arrangement in a fixed location can make sense. If data is captured at changing locations, a cart may suit the workflow better. What matters is the actual task. Additional components should be given a dedicated place and make it easier to reach frequently used work equipment.
The details that make your selection specific
- Monitor manufacturer and exact model designation
- Device weight without stand, VESA hole pattern and any adapters
- Mounting location with photo and dimensions: work surface, SIC rail or existing system
- Desired movements and required monitor positions
- Keyboard, computer, scanner and any other components to be carried as well
- Special conditions such as vibration, moisture or prescribed cleaning procedures
Send us these details via the contact page. For an initial overview, our catalogue page in German and English shows the SIC system components and possible combinations. We will work out more extensive combinations from the catalogue with you, even if they are not listed as a ready-made set in the shop.
Frequently asked questions about industrial monitor mounts
Is it enough if the VESA hole pattern matches?
No. The device weight, screw connection, mounting point, range of movement and the load-bearing capacity of the rest of the structure must also be right.
Can I mount the SIC rail-mounted holder on any aluminium profile?
There is no blanket compatibility. For an existing profile, the connection and mounting parts must be checked. Include the profile designation and an image of the intended mounting location with your enquiry.
Are all the mounts in the shop suitable for every industrial environment?
Suitability depends on the specific application. Additional stresses, for example from machine movements or special ambient conditions, require technical consultation.
